Crozet sits inside the Monticello American Viticultural Area, which is why the density here is what it is: seven places with Crozet or White Hall addresses, fourteen more within about twenty minutes, and another eighteen that are a day out rather than an evening.

Breweries & wine
King Family Vineyards
6550 Roseland Farm
The one everybody has heard of, and the polo is the reason. Roseland Polo runs every Sunday from Memorial Day weekend through late October, free and open to anyone — four seven-and-a-half-minute chukkers, tailgating on the grass, and the Blue Ridge behind the field.
Match times shift with the heat: noon in May, June, September and October with gates at ten, pushed to five o'clock in July and August. Tailgate spots are mostly first-come. Weather cancels.
Breweries & wine
Starr Hill Brewery
5391 Three Notch'd Road
The second-oldest craft brewery in Virginia and the first to package at scale, which is a real piece of state brewing history sitting on the edge of town. Twenty-four rotating taps in the taproom, food trucks on the patio, and live music most weekends.
Breweries & wine
Pro Re Nata
6135 Rockfish Gap Turnpike
A multi-acre brewery, cidery and music venue with a shipping-container stage facing the mountains and a beer garden built around it. Live music four nights a week, weekly trivia, food on site, and cider, wine and cocktails for the people who aren't drinking beer.
Food thins out midweek compared with the weekend, and the vendor in the kitchen has changed more than once.
Breweries & wine
Grace Estate Winery
5273 Mount Juliet Farm
A 450-acre estate north of town making wine entirely from grapes grown on the property, with labels that carry family stories. Flights out at the picnic tables, an estate mansion for events, and a Sunday salsa social among the regular programming.
Breweries & wine
White Hall Vineyards
5282 Sugar Ridge Road
One of the older names in the Monticello AVA, planted in 1994, still working estate fruit and still collecting awards. Up the road toward White Hall, which is a prettier drive than it needs to be.
Breweries & wine
Stinson Vineyards
4744 Sugar Hollow Road, White Hall
A father-and-daughter operation pouring small-lot wines out of a converted three-car garage, modeled on the French garagiste wineries. The smallest room on this list and the one people describe as their favorite once they've found it.
Breweries & wine
Fallen Tree Vineyard
Crozet–White Hall
One of the newest tasting rooms in the Monticello AVA, in the hills between Crozet and White Hall, with a 180-degree view down the valley. Chardonnay among the varietals.
New enough that hours and offerings are still settling — check before driving out.
Breweries & wine
Chiswell Farm & Winery
Greenwood
Jeffersonian estate run by the Chiles family, the same family behind the orchards.
Breweries & wine
Pollak Vineyards
Greenwood
Boutique French-style wines on a 98-acre farm, with a patio over a large pond.
Dinner
Crozet Pizza
5794 Three Notch'd Road
Bob and Karen Crum opened it in 1977 with five tables the founder built himself, and the dough recipe has been handed down since. It has been called the best pizza in Virginia and written up by National Geographic, and it is still the answer when someone asks what Crozet is known for.
Full bar, a music stage, and a genuinely loud room on UVA football Saturdays.
Dinner
Fardowners
5773 The Square
The town's default dinner, across from the old C&O depot, doing house-smoked wings and burgers under chef Mark Cosgrove with a rotating Virginia draft list and a Sunday brunch. The name belongs to the Irish laborers who cut the Blue Ridge Tunnel by hand in the 1850s.
Small parking lot, and expect a wait at peak times.
Dinner
Smoked Kitchen and Tap
2025 Library Avenue
Started as an award-winning Charlottesville food truck before taking a full kitchen in Piedmont Place. Hickory-smoked brisket, ribs, pulled pork and pork belly, five house sauces including a Virginia blackberry, and fried pickles and a barbecue tofu sandwich for the table that doesn't agree.
Ordering is by QR code at the table rather than a server.
Dinner
Sal's Pizza
5752 Three Notch'd Road
Family-run since 1987, baking Brooklyn-style pies in Brooklyn ovens, with a full Italian menu behind them — eggplant parmigiana, baked ziti, sausage rolls — and slices by the piece. Family photos on the walls, no tourist line.
Coffee
Mudhouse Crozet
5793 The Square
The Crozet outpost of Charlottesville's first independent roaster, doing single-origin pour-overs on the Square. It is where the town's remote workers set up, which makes it the fastest way to learn what is actually going on here.
Dinner
Restoration
5494 Golf Drive, Old Trail
The sit-down option on the Old Trail side of town, in the golf club with 180-degree windows across the course to the Blue Ridge. High ceilings, a full bar, and the anchor of the village center's dining.
Dinner service can run slow when the room is full.
Dinner
Bar Botanical
2025 Library Avenue, 4th floor
A rooftop terrace four floors up with firepits and a full mountain view, serving a completely vegan menu — lentil tacos, loaded potato squares — and cocktails built on fresh juice. The only rooftop in town and nothing else here is close to it.
Closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Menu is free of meat, dairy and peanuts.
Breakfast
Praha Bohemian Bakery
5778 Three Notch'd Road
Prague-born Markéta Johnson baking kolaces, honey cakes and European pastry, with coffee from a Staunton roaster and honey from hives here in Crozet. Sweet and savory both, and not a thing anyone expects to find in a town this size.
Dinner
Coconut Thai Kitchen
1015 Heathercroft Lane
Crozet's Thai kitchen, casual and small, with a pork belly appetizer people order specifically. It is the closest thing town has to a weeknight change of pace from pizza and barbecue.
Takeout portions run smaller than what comes out in the dining room.
Dinner
Mi Rancho
1015 Heathercroft Circle
The town's dedicated Mexican restaurant, with combination platters, jalapeño margaritas and draft Dos Equis. A large indoor room that takes big parties without notice, and a patio where dogs are welcome.
Food can run twenty to thirty minutes at busy times.
Lunch
CroZeli Sandwich Shop
2025 Library Avenue, Unit 204
A husband-and-wife deli with an arcade in the back so there is something to do while the sandwich is built. Bánh mì pork belly, a Romanian French dip, generous portions, fresh bread, and gluten-free available.
Closed Sunday and Monday, and made-to-order means it is not a fast lunch.
Dessert
Crozet Creamery
2025 Library Avenue
Homemade ice cream in Piedmont Place with a flavor list that turns over by season. The reliable ending to any evening that started at Smoked Kitchen two doors down.
Dinner
New China
5775 The Square
Express Chinese takeout with an open kitchen. Built for carrying home, not for sitting.
Dinner
Whistle Stop Grill
1200 Crozet Ave
Old-school diner, breakfast and lunch, decorated around the railroad history. The Train Wreck platter is the signature.
Coffee
Grit Coffee
1110 Old Trail Dr
Coffee and bakery in Old Trail Village — the west side's answer to Mudhouse.
Coffee
The Yellow Mug
1260 Crozet Ave
Neighborhood café, pastries in daily from Albemarle Baking Company, reliable wifi, quieter than the Square.

Crozet Crêpe Company
325 Four Leaf Ln
Sweet and savory crêpes off Route 250.
Dinner
Tea House
325 Four Leaf Ln
Tea and light fare in the Four Leaf Lane cluster.
Dinner

375 Four Leaf Ln
Seafood counter and supplier — the closest thing town has to a fish market.
Dinner
Love2Eat Thai
540 Radford Ln
The second Thai kitchen, and the one some locals prefer to the first.
Dessert
Cakes by Rachel
5853 Jarmans Gap Rd
Custom cakes, order-ahead.
Dessert
Jaclyn's Cookies
5792 Three Notched Rd
Cookies, next door to Crozet Pizza.
Lunch
Subway
375 Four Leaf Ln
The chain option.
Dinner
Domino's Pizza
325 Four Leaf Ln
Delivery, when the local places are closed.
Dinner
Duner's
Ivy
The area's fine-dining standby since 1983. Menu changes daily, crab cakes are the order, ten seats at the bar under a Polynesian mural. Reservations essential — it fills every night.
Lunch
Greenwood Gourmet Grocery
Greenwood
Specialty grocery and deli on the site of an old fruit stand, since 1999. Sandwiches on Albemarle Baking Company bread, natural wine, picnic tables. Closed Monday and Tuesday. Not cheap, not fast.
Lunch
Batesville Market
Batesville
Country store and café south of town, doubling as a community gathering spot and live-music room.
Dinner
Fiesta Azteca
Ivy
Mexican on Three Notch'd Road, on the way toward Charlottesville.
Coming soon.
